If we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.

Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap… Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin… do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. All the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. - Luke 12:24,27,29-30.

If we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. - 1 Timothy 6:8-10.

…the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. - Mark 4:19.

Let us lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:1-2
